Perseverance

Some years ago a young man went to Vatican Library to borrow a book to read. He was searching for a particular book of an author known to him. He found that book but was disappointed to see that the book had not been hired by anybody as was evidenced by the dust collected on it.

He began to read the book but it was not interesting at all. However, he continued to read, instead of giving up, and at long last, he came to the last page and found a script written by the author himself.

It read, “Dear reader, my hearty congratulations to you, because you are the only person who persevered till the last page. Now take this note to the bank number so and so and ask for file number so and so. You will find my last Will in that. He was curious to take the note to the bank. He showed the note to the bank authorities. They brought the file to him. Inside the file was the last Will and a duplicate of the letter and the Will and said: “All my bank balance should go to the one, who brings the original of this manuscript”.

“By perseverance the snail reached the ark,” says Charles Spurgeon.
