-Give us some details about your background and your career path – until you quit.
I had been a sad banker and was literally fed up with my 9 to 6 job. I was feeling like it I am killing my passion and my dreams
-Why did you quit your job?
I believe in following my heart and when I grow old rather would want to say “Least I tried” rather than “I should have tried”. I want to give my complete focus to what I wanted to do i.e. writing and publishing, so I decided to quit my regular 9 to 6 job and venture out as a full time writer and publisher. Possibly I would be a blessing in disguise to some secret aspirants.
-What are you doing now?
As mentioned earlier, I am totally into molding my RainDrops Company, which is a publishing house. It is an achievement in itself for me. I am a writer and I am in process of publishing my own book and along with it I am publishing works of some poets and authors so, by the grace of Almighty it has begun well. Today RainDrops Company has over 15 titles, 2 imprints,100+ poets/authors, offline and online distribution. His books have made their presence felt over 50 bookstores and 10 international book fairs.
-How has your life changed since you quit? Did the stint in the corporate help in your current journey?
Yeah, Life has changed since I quit. Being working in fixed hours I wasn’t able to contact people to discuss or propose the ideas. Now I have lot of time to go around and execute my plans. Time is no constraint anymore. There is no one I have to report to (grin). I am my boss and the realization of materializing my dream is the only thing on my mind. Working in corporate has definitely benefited me and it has developed me as a leader and I am sure I am equipped with the skills to train people who I have hired for the company In this 5 years of working in the corporate I have had the experience of working in different profiles which has added to my versatility. Corporate sector also demands innovation and I think i have developed it. So this journey has certainly helped in my development as an individual
-Do you miss anything about the job? Would you go back if given a choice?
The only thing I miss more are my companions; I used to meet them every day, they had been the part of my life and i miss them all. Small moment’s make a big difference and I have being enjoying them…
Going back to job…ummmm… I think NO. I am happy being the Boss, CEO, worker, courier boy right now. I know I can and I will achieve what I dream of. Failures are bound to come along the way but I am sure that I am going to rise above them all. I am just going to keep walking, come what may.
We wish Bernard. D’sa and RainDrops Company all the best in all their future endeavors
